In light of the recent damaging flood events along with consistent rise and falls of water levels along the river, our research and development team have designed a unique and innovative Floodsafe System (Australian design patent pending).
The Floodsafe System is designed to meet ALL engineering and BRC standards Australia-wide and is backed by a South Australian company with over 60 years experience in the construction industry.
Our system is unique in its ability to disconnect itself from services and raise the entire house to an additional two-thirds of the original height of the subfloor. Our subfloor system allows for all standard building practices below and above the Floodsafe System. It is versatile and can adapt the floor plate to suit all types of floor plans and building types.
With its unique telescopic legs, the self-locating collars have the ability to retract the structure back into its resting location, as well as seal the columns from moisture and vermin. The inventive laser cut system within the columns, allows for various options of jacking the floor including, hydraulic jacking, internal cable winches and a hand driven jack system. The system allows for low voltage draw jacks and winches that can be operated from portable power sources in the event of power outages. The innovative profile within the columns prevents the system from lowering in the event of a lifting failure, allowing for safe raising and lowering of the system.
When at full height the Floodsafe System floor is locked into place with pins, so that jacks can be removed during flood water egress. No additional bracing is required in full height position through the unique telescopic columns that will support the house once extended.
The Floodsafe System allows for typical construction methodologies above the subfloor system along with a secondary option for external wall studs to sit to subfloor frame, allowing structural flooring to be removed and replaced if swelling occurs (without the need to remove under bottom wall plate).
A potential benefit for owners and developers could include the removal of flood insurance from policies depending on insurance company requirements, along with the mitigation of flood inundation risk.
Rarcoola Structural are the sole agents of the Floodsafe System and as such we look forward to speaking with your planning team in regards to our innovative new product.
